“Our documentary is about Lone Soldiers in the Israeli Defense Forces. A lone soldier is a person from outside of Israel who volunteers to serve in the army and has no family with them in Israel. We chose this topic
because the lone soldier program is something unique to the IDF. While filming this documentary we had the privilege of speaking with many different people who were lone soldiers or are connected to lone
soldiers, and although they each had unique, interesting stories, every single one said the same thing; it was the best experience of their lives and they would gladly do it again. We wanted to explore what makes
the experience so amazing, and what motivates people to leave their homes and move half way around the world to serve in an army.”

So many times I see posts like these on social media sites where people so far removed from the problem think the two sides should just “stop fighting” and “get along already”. One thing people seem to be overlooking, in order for true peace to be attained, you need to have a partner for peace.
